"Madre Di Tre" Luisa Deflorian · 2025
In these first three paintings I made using a new technique, black gathers against white, gold emerges from the darkness, and finally opens into freer marks. The images do not depict a transformation already complete: they hold its movement, with all its hesitations and discoveries.For me, the triptych is an initiatory journey. Black is the veil behind which I long hid my desires, afraid that acknowledging them would make me wrong, less pure. Gold does not come from outside to dispel that darkness: it emerges from within it. What I had kept silent reveals its worth and, in the third painting, finds a form that no longer asks permission to exist.
"Madre Di Tre" brings together two experiences of birth. I am the mother of three children, but these three works also mark my own birth as a woman. Guided by instinct, I rediscovered in the body I was given the source of my voice. Today I inhabit it with gratitude and pride: not to become someone else, but to be fully myself.
