The armor was not chosen, nor was it formed in a day. It grew over the years, each time life demanded resilience, until it became necessary to keep from losing one’s own battle. It holds the trials endured, the wounds that taught us to protect ourselves, and the strength we found even when it seemed exhausted.Inside, though, there is nothing that needs to be hardened. There is a sensitivity to be cherished. It is the part of us that feels most deeply, that can be hurt, but that gives depth to every experience. The armor offers it a boundary, not a prison: it protects without asking it to become something else.The golden layer makes this hidden worth visible. It does not cover the wounds to make them disappear, nor does it turn pain into something beautiful. It surrounds what has remained alive, shields it, and lets it shine again. Gold thus becomes a strength forged over time, able to support sensitivity without stifling it.This is the battle at the heart of the work: not having to stop feeling in order to survive. Accepting the need for protection without letting fear decide who we become. Continuing to love life, to long for it, and to move through it with all that we are.
